چکیده
Conducting user studies online and unsupervised instead of in laboratories gives quick access to a large inexpensive participant pool. It is however unclear if data sourced this way valid, what the best practices for conducting VR are. The restrictions on laboratory experienced during COVID-19 further necessitate development valid procedures remote collection, especially research fields such as that heavily rely studies. In paper we report our experiences with two amidst pandemic, by recruiting participants relevant fora employing participants’ own standalone equipment. We investigate whether it feasible collect across in-VR survey responses hand tracking. good reliability collected data, which requires only slightly more sanitation than comparable study. synthesize into practical recommendations using recruitment, can greatly reduce barriers empirical improve quantity studies, regardless availability.

Human Interaction in Multi-User Virtual Reality
In this paper we will present an immersive multiuser environment for studying joint action and social interaction. Besides the technical challenges of immersing multiple persons into a single virtual environment, additional research questions arise: Which parameters are coordinated during a joint action transportation task? In what way does the visual absence of the interaction partner affect t...
متن کاملUnifying Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality User Interfaces
This paper presents a unified user interface technology, using 3D interaction techniques, constructive solid geometry, and a glove based menuing system, known as Tinmith-Hand, to support mobile outdoor augmented reality applications and indoor virtual reality applications. Tinmith-Hand uses similar concepts for both domains so that AR and VR applications are consistent to use. The future goal o...

The purposes of this research were to develop online museum for packaging using Virtual Reality. This museum was to be considered as a learning instruction resource outside class to solve the issue of insufficient time in class. The instructors encouraged learners to build up the knowledge by themselves via active learning activities. The sampling group for this study consisted of 40 second yea...

The Distributed Interactive Virtual Environment (DIVE) is a heterogeneous distributed VR system based on UNIX and Internet networking protocols. Each participating process has a copy of a replicated database and changes are propagated to the other processes with reliable multicast protocols. DIVE provides a dynamic virtual environment whew applications and users can enter and leave the environm...
متن کاملVirtual Reality for Consensus Building: Case Studies
This demonstration presents a real-time virtual reality (VR) system that has primarily been used as a tool for simulating and negotiating transportation-related designs. Visualization creation and presentation methods are briefly described. Case studies include applications to infrastructure, traffic, and environmental planning, as well as evacuation analysis. An emphasis is placed on using VR ...
